TargetScan System - Technical Specifications

Probe and system specs

  • B-Mode ultrasound
  • Mechanical sector
  • Single element transducer
  • Nominal frequency - 6.3 MHz
  • Focus - 38mm (nominal)
  • 5 fps image scanning
  • Adjustable transmit power -24dB to 0dB

Ultrasound View Specs

Transverse
180° radial sector x 63mm penetration

Sagittal
60mm wide linear sector X 63mm penetration (Unique to mechanical probes. Does not truncate lower part of sagittal view like traditional radial sector sagittal views do. Allows full visualization of tissue and needles placed near the rectal wall.)
Split screen viewing allows transverse and sagittal images to be viewed simultaneously.

Ultrasound view plane movements

  • Transverse image plane moves from tip to 60mm rearwards in 1mm, 2.5mm and 5mm increments.
  • Sagittal image plane rotates from straight up (0 degrees) to +/- 80 degrees in 1°, 2° and 5° increments.
  • The only probe with moving transverse and longitudinal view planes. Alleviates the need for a costly, cumbersome stepping device.
  • Image planes movement and capture controllable by 3rd party planning and treatment software without moving the probe.

Biopsy Specs

The biopsy needle is provided sterile in a procedure kit

  • Biopsy needle
  • Biopsy needle guide
  • Probe cover
  • 25 gaga X 180mm anesthesia needle
  • Biopsy planning data CD

Proprietary bendable sterile 18 gauge X 20cm cutting-type biopsy needle with 19mm sample notch.
Used with the Manan Pro-Mag 2.2 Biopsy Gun with 22mm needle firing travel.
Needle tip protrudes up to 20mm from tip of biopsy guide (prior to firing) allowing up to 42mm of needle penetration.
Needle exits disposable needle guide at a 45° angle from probe shaft eliminating the need for the physician to angle the probe upwards and disturbing the position of the prostate.
Biopsy needle positioning attachment rotates the biopsy guide and needle about the probe axis +/- 45° in 5° increments and in and out in 5mm increments.

Disposable needle guide
Form fitting, low profile ABS and stainless steel sterile disposable biopsy guide eliminates the cleaning and sterilization necessary with reusable biopsy guides.

System Specs

Intuitive, easy to use Windows XP interface.

Part 1: General Requirements for Safety,2 Collateral
  • Standard: Electromagnetic Compatibility Requirements and Tests.

Miscellaneous

Probe is repairable unlike most electronic array probes. 1mm and 1° allow "MRI-like" Tru-Solid 3D data set capture.
